Welcome to Hillview and to 6 th grade! I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year with each of you. I hope you get as excited about science as I do. I have lots of activities planned for you that I know you will enjoy!
Your success will depend on your cooperation in following class procedures and rules. The following should be signed and returned by both parent and student. I am sure this will be an outstanding year!
Be prompt: Be in your seat with homework out and ready when the bell rings.
Be prepared: Bring pencil, pen, binder, science book, and completed assignments to every class.

Daily assignments are always on the homework board in my room. You are expected to write down your homework assignments or call a buddy.
You are responsible for the work that you miss. You will be given one extra day to make up the work for each day missed.
When you are absent, you need to check the Today in Science Binder and determine what homework was due, and what was covered in class. The assignments you missed can be found on the 6 th Grade Assignments shelf in front of the room.
Homework is due at the beginning of the class period . The science department policy is that NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED after the due date. You will receive two “Late Passes” per trimester for emergencies that may crop up. Those assignments will be graded without penalty. Late passes however cannot be used for large projects or lab reports.
You will complete a variety of assignments, including science labs, projects, homework, quizzes, and tests. Each assignment will be given a point value. At the end of the trimester, the total number of points you have earned will be compared to the total number of possible points that trimester. Grades will be assigned according to the following percentages:
> 100% A+
90 – 99% A
80 – 89 % B
70 – 79% C
60 – 69% D
below 60 F
