Background:
I am the youngest of three children and grew up in Burlingame, California. I went to public schools in Burlingame where I was a successful student and athlete. I went to college at UC Berkeley and graduated with Highest Honors. I played volleyball for CAL for one year and rowed on the CAL Crew team for three. I competed at Pac-10 and NCAA championships. My team's best finishes included winning Pac-10's and placing 3rd at NCAA's. Go Bears!
My boyfriend, Rob, and I have been together for over seven years. We have a home in Menlo Park with big front yard - perfect for our chocolate lab, Cali.
Favorites:
I have always loved animals and being outside. As a child I had ducks, dogs, fish, a snake, a tarantula, and much more. Now I have a dog, a cat, and two turtles. Camping, hiking, swimming, and rowing are among my favorite activities to do outside. I also learned to love gardening from my family - I vividly remember learning how to plant a new plant from my Grandpa. This first thing I did when we moved in to our house was plant a garden!
As a Teacher:
This is my fourth year teaching. In my first year alone, I was given the great opportunity to pilot a 21st Century Classroom and have become part of a fabulous team of teachers. Just last year I completed my masters from Notre Dame de Namur University. My thesis was all about best practices for teaching math to young children. I feel so fortunate to be here at Laurel. I am looking forward to the year ahead! |
