and Details of Challenges!
WHAT IS SCIENCE KIDS CLUB?
S.K.C. was created for children who enjoy science and the workings of nature. It's an opportunity to meet together at lunchtime to experience some fun, competitive, and scientific challenges. Challenges range in variety from growing the tallest bean, to discovering the best way to launch a water rocket.
'Science Kids Club's setup is simple:
THERE IS NO SIGN-UP! Interested children are encouraged to attend lunchtime gatherings, but there is no commitment to worry about. No time for this challenge?? No problem... come to the next one! Want to watch, but not participate?? Great! We love your enthusiasm!
COMPETITIVE
CHALLENGES
:
Three to four times a year students are introduced to special,
competitive challenges, along with that challenge's unique
parameters. Children are invited to a lunchtime meeting of discussion
and guidance. A date is set when the challenge is due, and when the
Challenge Day arrives, each student's solution to the problem is
tested and compared to other competitors. Ribbons are awarded to the
best solutions, and all participants receive certificates of
achievement.
OTHER INFORMATION:
There is no fee. The Roosevelt PTA has committed money for materials needed. We are very grateful to our parent community for this support.
It is to the student's advantage if parents can become involved. Some help at home is needed in gathering supplies and understanding concepts. Encouraging your child's young mind is also beneficial, best stated in the cliché ... "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."
Parents often ask to become "Lead Mentors" for new challenges, and this is welcomed.
NOTE:
Science Kids is always evolving and therefore subject to change until it runs as smoothly as any prize winning experiment! Simplicity is key. Smiles! and Happy Scientifilickiting!!! (don't bother looking it up)
