The pain was brutal. I couldn’t feel my thumb anymore; the heavy metal door had just slammed on it. I felt as if my finger was falling off. There was not much blood, but my nail was loose, so I wrapped all the band-aids I could find around it. When I told my mom about what happened, she was very worried and she checked my finger. We decided not to go to the doctor, and we only disinfected it. I had just sprained my thumb for the first time.
I put a bandage on for a week, and the day I took it off, I went to play kickball with my neighbor. Suddenly, I felt a little blood on my leg, looked down, and there it was, my nail was sitting on the ground, it had fallen off. Oh….. the pain that had no name! I ran home with my neighbor beside me, washed my thumb, and I realized I was in total shock! When I calmed myself down, I glanced down at my nail-less thumb.
You would think that my thumb had gone through enough pain; well, only two months later, I stapled my beautiful freshly grown nail by mistake. I could see the end of the staple through my finger! Even though I have been so irresponsible with my thumb, I have learned my lesson: always look where you put your fingers!

Life
By Natalie S.
Ohhhhh… wet. Saliva dripping from my mouth caught my attention, which was hard to do because of all the new exciting things around me. I saw a lamp, a mirror and then the greatest thing of all… my mother. The beloved person who brought me too this weird extraordinary world just a couple hours ago. People kept swiftly walking past me chatting and saying how cute and adorable I was. Then I wondered, what did I look like? I couldn’t move though, so to express how I wanted to know what I looked like I let out a loud, horrid wail. It worked; everyone was now staring at me with kid, helpful eyes.
“GURGLEGA!?” I tried to tell them, but of course they didn’t understand my precious language.
So I just rested there trying being cute. Large white coats whisked past me and as one was standing near me I grabbed hold of it. I clenched it with my death grip drooling some more. Oh, life is wonderful, what could make it better!?
ICE
By Natalie
I stood before the freezing cold pool clenching my friend’s hand as if it would give me courage, then we jumped.
“SPLASH!” The water parted as we slipped to the bottom of the pool.
“That wasn’t so bad, was it?” I questioned as my face rose from the waves of splashing water.
“That’s not true!” She exclaimed, “I feel like an ice cube… please tell me I’m not freezing slowly to death!”
I soon was gliding through the water to see the thermometer, which read 45 degrees Fahrenheit. I better not tell my friend!
I flipped over into a perfect handstand in the pool.
“Nice job.” My friend whispered because she was so chilly, then she tried. Her handstand was better than mine, but I stayed under water longer… and unlike her I was a daredevil when it came to cold water.
Haunted House
By Natalie
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter little feet go
Up the steps the vampire walks
Next goes Frankenstein and the little ghost
The princess and her maids follow
Pitter-patter pitter-patter little feet go
Through the door `
Into the haunted house they all walk
“BOO!”
Someone shouts and the little ghost screams
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter little feet go
Then he runs out the door
The princess with her maids follow
but
They hear a loud and horrid wallow
Out the door they go too
Until she finds she lost her shoe!
The vampire and Frankenstein walk side by side - Terrified
“Who goes next?”
They hear from a voice up above
“ME!”
Says Frankenstein
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter little feet go
And he runs out the door
That is wide and tall
Until he takes a terrible fall
The vampire is left
What should he do but run too?
HALLOWEEN NIGHT:
BY: JOHANA
Halloween Halloween
a spooky night
with giggles and goblins
spooking through the night.
Halloween Halloween
a day of dark
you never
know who's there in the dark.
With fear in the air
you'll have to be scared,
for that's when you know
someone's there.
BOO!

An Amazing Christmas Eve
I could see my grandparent’s car driving away on this cold Christmas Eve, and I could feel the warmth of the sparking fire in the fireplace. I then heard my dad call, “ Leaving in three minutes!”
I bulleted out of the living room and shot up stairs to get into my pajamas. I then rushed down the stairs and put together a little bag of cookies, collected blankets, grabbed a mug of hot chocolate, and hopped into the car just in time. As we slowly made our way around town I could see the many colorful, bright lights, shining through the car window. I heard the soft chatter of parties outside my frosted window and felt my sister Caroline snuggled up close to me munching on a cookie. We went down Christmas Tree Lane and saw the amazing lights outside. I don’t remember any more though. I had fallen dead asleep on Caroline’s arm.

Witches, goblins, and a ghost
Go prowling through the night
Competing who will get most
And cause the biggest fright
What to wear and who to scare
That’s what we think of most
“Come out for treats, if you dare!”
Cackles the little ghost
They scurry up the dark path
And ring the doorbell twice
Hoping for no evil rath
And instead for something nice
Buckets full of tricks and treats
To home they now shall run
To eat their sugary sweets
And talk of the nights fun
