A little about me... I grew up in the Bay Area in Sunnyvale. I have three brothers and one sister who are all older than me. I had the best of both worlds: I loved growing up in a big family, but when I was in high school, I had the house to myself! We're a pretty close family and get together often. Now with all my brothers and sister, our spouses and children, a family get together usually is about 20 people!

I went to college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, graduated in 1996. It's a great little town about three hours from here. I loved going to school there.

After college I worked a few jobs at law offices, but realized that I wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps and teach. She taught first grade for over 25 years.

In 2000, I met and fell in love with an amazing man named Chris. We were married in a beautiful little ceremony in 2005 and spent our honeymoon snowboarding in Whistler, Canada. A few months later we found out I was pregnant, and Jacob Flash Mathenia was born January 31, 2006. He was a pretty big baby--almost nine pounds! He is a very sweet, charming and handsome little man--just like his daddy! Jake has changed our lives in so many wonderful ways.

Jake is now nearly 22 months old. He is talking all the time and exploring the world. Everyday he seems to learn new words or figures out new "toys"--his new toy is the garage door opener. He also loves to play hide and seek and chase us all over the rooms.

I started at Hillview in 2002...what a wonderful school! I love the teachers that work here. The other sixth grade core teachers are fantastic, and the five of us make a GREAT team. The administration is very supportive, and the students are SO sweet and smart. I feel really lucky to work here.
